A BRAND NEW PHI LOUDSPEAKER
RANGE
FOLDED TQWT, DTTP and EXOLINEAR
aperiodic
tuned pipes.
PHI, in collaboration with
[object
house], has embarked on the
design and manufacture of a brand new range of tuned
pipe loudspeakers. The price range of our line-up has been
broadened, ranging from affordable 'desktop' and
'bookshelf' loudspeakers to our customary high-end
units, in both our customer and materials driven
be[spoke]
series and our
per[form]
range, where the fidelity is largely determined by
the exact form of the loudspeakers.
We have maintained our minimal
Dieter Ramsian design
aesthetic by using solid wood in conjunction with
engineered materials. This latter will be the
highest quality Finnish Birch Plywood, chosen for
its appearance as much as its proven sonic
qualities.
Our focus, as always, is on full and wide range
loudspeakers, assisted with appropriate high and low
frequency transducers where deemed necessary.

PHI BESPOKE
Our
be[spoke]
range
remains an extension of this set of loudspeakers.
Bespoke
design and manufacture allows the use of any and all exotic
and iconic drivers, boutique materials and
components such as speciality capacitors, rare tone
woods and gold and silver wiring.
We adhere to our design principles and philosophies,
but accommodate any client request supported by
these constraints.

Siderium DTTP
Ultra-Low Bass Stereo
Audiophile Loudspeaker System.
The Siderium is
our
be[spoke] loudspeaker for the purist.
Constructed from solid American walnut, it excels in
any kind of music and has bass extension and clarity
far beyond what would be possible with traditional
designs. The unique DTTP (Double Taper Tuned Pipe)
design is a world first and provides a level of
realism, involvement and immediacy that compares
with that of any loudspeaker, at any price point.
Sensitivity measures 90dB/2.83V with a maximum
rating 200W RMS, a minimal serial crossover filter
network and bi-polar driver arrangement.

units. |

On the work bench: a folded TQWT
High-sensitivity floor
standing Stereo
Audiophile Loudspeaker System.
As first offering and
flagship of
our new per[form] fleet, this loudspeaker
employs a principle which cuts
down on the size of tuned pipe speakers by folding
the upper part of the speaker taper behind the lower
part. The upward tapering geometry of the unit not
only makes for attractive looks, but ekes the last
drop of performance out of the already beautifully
constructed German-designed driver set.
Features include
sensitivity in excess of 95dB/2.83V at 1m, an easily
driven load impedance, a minimal first order
filtering network and solid 30mm birch ply
construction.

On the work bench:
our new TISHP* - successor of the phISH
Entry level floor
standing Stereo Audiophile Loudspeaker System.
New, the improved entry level
loudspeaker from
our new per[form] stable, the TISHP loudspeaker
type employs a shorter tuned pipe section from what
one would expect from the frequency response,
augmented by a reflex port. This cuts
down on the length of this tuned pipe speaker
allowing tall pipe performance to more budget
conscious audiophiles. Upward tapering geometry,
combined with a two-tone colouring scheme, makes for
an extremely attractive loudspeaker with matching,
all-rounder performance.
Sensitivity calculates
to around 92dB/2.83V with 100W RMS power handling
and extension from 49Hz to past 30kHz. As always, a
minimal, first order filter network is used in a
serial configuration.

On the work bench: our new
OFMLTQWT*
- successor of the Cyclops
High resolution floor
standing Stereo Audiophile Loudspeaker System.
New, an OpenFloor
version of our well-received Cyclops loudspeaker.
True to
our new per[form] concept, the new Cyclops
uses the same circuitry and drivers as the original
be[spoke]
units, but mounted in an attractive two-tone upward
tapering tuned pipe. The original credentials of the
Cyclops - high resolution, pin-point imaging and
in-the-venue ambience - is maintained albeit in a
much more elegant and simple package. The driver
configuration remains bi-polar.
Sensitivity measures
to around 91dB/2.83V with 40W RMS power handling and
extension from 47Hz to past 19kHz. As always, a
minimal, first order filter network is used in a
serial configuration.

An unusual loudspeaker
type, the "1/8th wave Exolinear" is another strategy
to designing loudspeakers not quite as tall as their
quarterwave counterparts. We're currently working on
a 400W medium to high efficiency example of this
speaker type for our per[form] range, the
intention being to create a loudspeaker comfortable
with louder styles of music, without compromising
the finesse we are known for. To this effect, high
power high efficiency pro-audio drivers are used,
housed in a sturdy 30mm Finnish Birch ply enclosure.
Features include
sensitivity of 94dB/2.83V at 1m, an easily
driven load impedance and a minimal first order
filtering network.
