The phiPOLE subwoofer

The phiPOLE is a S-style dipole subwoofer intended as low frequency extension for stereo loudspeakers. The are optimised for music reproduction with very clean low bass without any boominess as is associated with ported subwoofer designs. The nature of a dipole woofer also means that it interacts with room modes to a much smaller degree than most other loudspeaker designs. This enhances reproduction in non-ideal environments such as rooms with parallel walls and lots of hard surfaces. The subwoofers are stackable and have a small footprint.

They are based around a carbon fibre coned pro-audio driver with a 200W rating and the kind of headroom associated with these units. Currently the subwoofer is available as a passive unit, but an active version should be available soon.
